In this café time seems to have stood still like an old photograph, when people used to come here to play billiards, cards, or just to share a coffee with friends. With each day that passes, the place becomes an ever more indispensable part of the history of Buenos Aires.

A 19th century cafe that is based on a cafe in Paris. Back in the day, it used to be a popular hangout for the Argentinian elite. Today, it feels like it lost its charm and became a tourist hangout.
The most famous cafeteria in Buenos Aires. You can't leave without taking a coffee with medialunas here. The decoration is just lovely. It's a must in the city . Prepare yourself to pay a lot.
For those who want a shot of Tango, that's the place! The show is 1 our long and the place is historical, cozy and simple. The show starts around 8pm, but go in the morning or afternoon for tickets!
Good ambience apart from the hard sell on the Tango show . Great for people watching and beautiful Art Deco interior with history harking back to the 30s heyday.
The best cafe i've ever seen in Buenos Aires.Chocolate espresso is so delicious that i cannot describe, you should taste it. And taste cheeseburger also! Ambience is impressive, you should visit here!
Desserts are great, coffee is great. The pizza doesn't fit a god one, avoid this. The place is just amazing. Second best one in South America. Try Colombo Café in Rio de Janeiro/BR
Supposedly one of the 10 most beautiful cafes in the world but as a gal from Istanbul, I can say there are more beautiful ones in my city . Churros were delicious though and the service is 10/10.
The decor and history of the café are amazing and the tango show was excellent. However the food was not good. I would advise to go for tango and/or a coffee .
Beautiful and historical. Very touristy , yet a must for one-time visit. Chocolate with churros is recommended. The former is wow, but the latter is so-so.
A great place to visit. Food wise maybe not the most superb in town but still very very good. I would definitely recommend visiting for some coffee and snacks
He coffee tasted good, but the churros were far from good. They were dry and stiff. The place is awesome. Lots of paintings and the decor is superb.
The place is wonderful, have a classical architecture and the breakfast is a typical food of Argentina! They have a good prices
Beautiful place. For me Tortoni breakfast was too big so I had to take away my sandwiches and ate them for lunch . Which was pretty cool. Lemon tart was too sweet I wouldn't order it next time
Typical place of Buenos Aires. You have to come here once, take the time to eat some sandwiches de miga , tostados with a submarino or a cerveza :)
nice historical place! its good for coffee with Bacardi, but not for lunch . The salads and meat are touristico tasty.
Classic coffee place in Buenos Aires. You can't leave the city without having a breakfast at this historic atmosphere!
The place is beautiful and the coffee is great! You cannot forget to try their churros with "dulce de leche" GORGEOUS!!
Beautiful place! The breakfast was good AND huge, plus we didn't have to queue to go inside like we would have to for lunch .
There's a waiter who looks moody, but he is nice! The café doesn't accept credit card, but Brazilian Real here it's R$4,00 worth! Lemon pie is big and good!
a MUST for foreign travelers. Full tango ambiance, and IMHO it's the greatest cultural spot you can go in and have a coffee/snack. Not too expensive and definitely worth it!
Hot chocolate with churros are very good. A little bit expensive . Well served. Very beautifull architecture . Must know place.
And old but great place to have a coffee , plus there is a tango shows every day, no the best but ok for get and idea about it.
Excellent place! Traditional and conforble. We love the churros with dulce de leche! Also a very profissional attending service.
The place reminds me to cafe Versailles in Miami a lot of history and tradition. Take a cup of chocolate with churros !
Skip the Tortoni Tostada and opt for the jamón y queso medialuna. Chocolate con churros is also delicious
Churros &chocolate were simply amazing!!! Order also el lomo and was ok the tango show also good.
An authentic place, it is a great pleasure to have coffee here...
A historical café in Buenos Aires full of art , tango and good air. You should try to catch a show in the back room!
You wait in line despite tons of tables being open. Architecture is cool but not must-see. Maybe dinner and tango is cooler, but breakfast was average at best and not worth any wait.
Don't leave without walking around the café - the coolest part is in the back, with great decoration and statues .
Great venue but it is a tourist trap. Expensive for what you get but worth a coffee to enjoy the historic surroundings
A great place to take a coffe , I recommend that you ask a chocolate with churros , it's great.
Try the Merengada dessert . It's a very flavorful vanilla ice cream with some of the best fresh cinnamon I have ever tasted. Magnifico!
Every Wednesday 8pm tango show in the basement . Only cash accepted for tickets!
Skip this place for breakfast . We waited in line for 45 minutes outside and when they finally let us in half the tables were empty. Hence the curtained doors. Everything was mediocre and overpriced.
The place is beautiful! But they should redo the entire menu. It surely doesn't match the cafe atmosphere. The tango show is good.
Historic literary cafe in Buenos Aires .
Amazing painted glass ceiling! Everything else pretty average. Still a nice break while touting BA
Bombom suizo is out of this world!
Lovely place with a lot of history, great ambience and surprisingly reasonable prices.
Very historical place....Place obligatory to visit.
Average food, average wine by glass, the decor is great and has the old Buenos Aires vibe, that is the only reason people come here, I doubt it's for the food. Average service, good atmosphere.
It's good for a date. You can find great tango shows
Cute place. I guess it's known for tango lots of tourists .
Don't miss the alfajor. The best I've tried so far..
Chocolate espeso - of you don't like coffee it's a good choice. Really sweet tho.
Authentic churros ! And creamy chocolate !
Reserve your tango tickets on days with live music only!
Ordered the cheese sausage which really tasted like plastic... (all of it). We were also sitting by the door with lots of cold air coming in and out. The beer also wasn't cold...

Wonderful patisserie within and lovely lunch dining and coffee. Eat inside. - Beth Jolly Baker
HUGE American breakfast and they also do tea service. Great spot to people watch and enjoy a beautiful day. - Rebecca Lipon
A must visit when you are in Buenos Aires! Walking Av. de Mayo is also a good idea. - Mert Saka
Worth to visit guided tour (on weekend and holiday only). Impressive architecture and decoration, and the balcony probably a must. - Nuk Cho
Must see when in Buenos Aires. From here it is a 10 min walk to Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada! Love it! - Manja Kochannek
