I worked next door to this place for a couple of years, and ended up eating the salmon nori bento almost every day. It's still a go-to meal. The onigiri are great too. -Eddie
Ramen is too soft for my taste but the bento box , curry , gyudon are all wonderfully flavorful and authentic for its price point. Hitachino beers are available. Before you leave, grab some mochis to go
My favorite Japanese supermarket ! There's also one in midtown and east village . Always great quality. Their bentos and hot lunches are so yummy and I don't leave without buying Japanese snacks !!
Fantastic Japanese foods prepared to stay or to go! Katsu Don are great.. lots of typical Japanese stuff, nice idea for an alternative dinner !
So many adorable little drinks! The fries are the best though. Possibly my favorite in NYC- so good. Some of the grocery stuff is a little overpriced but I still love this place.
This place is amazing. I definitely need to go back to pick up green tea kitkats. I got chicken curry and they made it fresh. Great for lunch .
The lunch specials are excellent and fairly priced . The grocery selection is one of the best in the city for Japanese products. The oyakodon and beef soba are my favorites.
Get. The. Fries . They are worth waiting for during the lunch rush.
"Coming from Finland, I’m pretty picky when it comes to fish , and theirs is always fresh and reasonably priced - not a given in New York!" - Lotta Nieminen, illustrator, art director Read more
Tonkatsu ramen and bento boxes . Nothing beats the taste and the prices! Go during lunch for the most selections. They also have Japanese groceries here, so it acts as a mini Asian supermarket ! :D
Best range of Japanese groceries and household goods on the Island ! Everything from Natto to hair wax. Tasty and reasonably priced bento boxes too!
This is the SoHo location that's slightly calmer than the East Village location. It's great, and there's tables up front to eat food and snacks purchased.
I came here for lunch often for Katsu dishes, noodles , and Japanese snacks . The food is very good and authentic
Take away a bento box , sushi tray, or pickled vegetable salad for lunch , but be sure to browse the snack aisle on your way out, if for no reason other than the allure of the wacky Japanese packaging.
The lunch options are cheap and on point--sushi, onigiri , udon , everything.
Fresh sushi and hot rice bowls available at the back with lots of tables upstairs to eat. ???? ???????? ????????
The bento boxes are really good. I can't wait to try the udon next time I go. This place reminds me a lot of Japan.
It's a Japanese supermarket with a great selection of imported drinks and candies as well as some nice ready-to-eat selections like yakisoba and rice balls (if that's you're speed).
What a wonderful place to snuggle it out. The upstairs is the prime spot. I suggest their ramen . Although, I wish they had tan tan ramen . It's great. Love it. Snuggled.
Good tonkotsu ramen , can be crowded at lunch time. The fries with wasabi mayo are a must try! ????
Wonderful, fully-stocked Japanese market ! Whenever you find yourself in need of items like shiso leaves, S&B curry powder , Japanese snacks and cooking necessities, this is where you'll find them.

Great place to stop for a snack - there are tables to eat at and a microwave if you wanna use it for something you buy in the store.
Bento boxes ftw. Get the one with salmon , noodles , Kara age, Hamburg , sausage , and yams . It's tasty
I love the cozy upstairs eating area. The perfect little escape, particularly in the winter months.
They make a fantastic Tonkatsu Ramen that has a deliciously ginger-y broth. It’s also served in a quart container (so you will definitely be full after eating it).
Come here to pick up awesome Japanese groceries you couldn't find anywhere else. Bonus: there are adorable tea cups and saki sets for sale in the back.
The ramen is bomb. Green tea ice cream cups are only like a dollar. Pick up some tea , soba and things you can't find anywhere else.
So much good takeout food here... perfect for lunch . Tonkotsu ramen is surprisingly quite good.
Pick up a bag of mini green tea kit kats . They are amazing.
Really good lunch place. Lots of fun snacks . Yummy chilled canned milk coffee .
This place is awesome. Get one of the rice bowls . Delicious. Great prices too.
The salmon wrap , which other people have recommended, is delish. It's also definitely big enough for two. My coworker and I usually share it, for a great, cheap lunch .
Super awesome Japanese shop with sushi , bentos , Japanese candies , and foods.
Browse the candy section, buy something that you can't quite identity and then try it out. It will either be delicious or wonderfully strange.
Large selection of green tea snacks . The chicken salad is also a great value
The fries are incredible and they have wasabi sauce to make them all the more delectable.
Get the grape juice aloe drink -- trust me
If you're craving Japanese comfort food or snacks , this here is the place to drop by
Great for a quick bite to eat, chicken or pork katsu was rul good.
When you walk to the back to order there is no line . Just ask the person behind the counter.
Decent, affordably priced sushi . The fries are amazing. But their $10 credit card minimum is really annoying when your bill is $9.91 and they make you buy something else.
Didn't know they had a $10 min for paying with credit card. Now you know it. Bring cash. It's a great place for your sushi lunch take away .
All your Japanese grocery needs! Only place I know I can get natto or miso from!
*all* the asian snacks ! dried squid , many kinds of mochi , shrimp chips , pocki, jelly snacks
Great options for lunch , from ramen to sushi to Japanese curry .
Great japanese store; sells the best and softest mochi .
It feels bigger than the original but they do have seating upstairs to eat food.
tonkotsu ramen , bento boxes , sushi , japanese candy
This place has an amazing salad bar for a good price. Big selection of yummy pastries as well! - Vicki
Amazing produce, amazing Asian goodies to take away, grocery store and foods to eat inside! It is heaven in here! - Mary Lee
A quick meal or big snack? 1 buck for the big steamed meat buns. Vietnamese or pork and veggie are my favorites. Can get frozen in packs of four. - Lawrence Yang
Soups are really good! Esp. The Italian wedding and chili. Staff is super friendly. - Katherin Son
