The Temple of Heaven is not one building but actually a complex of buildings including the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (pictured), The Imperial Vault of Heaven and the Circular Mound Altar.

The Temple of Heaven (TianTan) was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would make offerings to heaven and pray for good harvests. The temple really is gorgeous.

Absolutely magnificent place. I found it better preserved than the Forbidden City . Tip: enter through the north gate of the park , considerable less crowed and more local taste of what the park is
